Michaela Manakova about Asics compression socks

Stable. Professional. Competitive. Safe

Many of you may have already wondered whether to use compression socks or not. Is it helping or is it just one of the trends that companies use to make us buy more goods?

We probably ask ourselves this type questions pretty often, but sometimes the only way to figure out is to risk it and figure out on our own!

I have decided to do instead of think. Therefore I have ordered my Asics compression socks and tried them on my own rather then spend hours reading articles and think about what ifs. And this is my answer: There is a huge variety of option how to use them. I have checked out how my legs react with and without compression socks to different kind of situations.

1. Uphill run

was not the ideal for me because of my style of a run I am more of a peak of the feet uphill runner and therefore the pressure in my calf was too extreme which caused a longer recovery time afterwards. In addition, to this my conclusion is that the uphill run is for me better without compression socks.

2. Downhill run

Although uphill run is no go with compression socks for me, the downhill run is the opposite. It stabilise my leg posture, protects the strength of shocks that affect your calfs as much as your knees. Speaking of knees, they are the most often and quickest part of your legs that get hurt, therefore PROTECT THEM! This is one of the reasons why downhill run is for me tricky, since I have already undertaken a knee surgery, so I appreciate everything that protects them.

3. Speed run

If you are a person with lower blood flow and suffer from swollen legs, these socks are design for you and you should definitely reconsider using them! I like to use them for the speed run, because it gives a nice support and you overcome swollen calfs plus it regulates your blood flow and gives you a chance to perform better.

Another important aspect is RECOVERY you can also use compression socks for recovery or if you stand a lot at work and your legs get swollen fast. The only thing not recommended is sleeping or laying with these socks (unless your doctor suggests that), since the compression might be too high.
